Farantube Sport: Groupe Partouche Reports Strong Growth in 2023

In a year marked by the lingering effects of the pandemic, Groupe Partouche has showcased its resilience and ability to bounce back as it reports a comfortable increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2023. The group’s GGR surpassed the previous year’s figure of €636.7m, reaching new heights.

Growth Across Key Sectors

Groupe Partouche attributed its success to growth in several key sectors. Here are some highlights:

  • GGR from slot machines increased by an impressive 7.6%.
  • GGR from electronic traditional games in France saw a significant climb of 20.3%.
  • The online games GGR in Switzerland experienced remarkable growth, soaring by 41.6% compared to the previous year.

These positive developments contributed to the overall increase in GGR for Groupe Partouche.

Net Profit Down Despite Revenue Growth

While Groupe Partouche enjoyed revenue growth, net profit took a hit due to various factors. Here’s an overview:

  • Employee expenses were the biggest outgoing, amounting to €177.2m, representing a 5.5% increase.
  • Purchases and external expenses surged by 16.9% to reach €142.6m.

The current operating profit for the year showed promise with an 18.3% increase at €27.4m. However, certain income from the previous year was not present in 2023, impacting the bottom line.

Including these figures in the year-on-year comparison resulted in a 32.7% decrease in operating profit, amounting to €27.4m. Pre-tax profit also experienced a decline of 36.2% at €24.5m, after accounting for €2.9m in finance costs.

Despite these challenges, Groupe Partouche paid €1.1m in tax and reported €100,000 in share expenses, ending the year with a net profit of €23.4m, down 37.0% from the previous year.

On a brighter note, EBITDA saw a slight increase of 0.7%, reaching €76.1m for the full year.

Groupe Partouche Updates on Belgian Online Casino Deal

In addition to its financial results, Groupe Partouche provided an update on its online casino deal in Belgium:

Last June, Groupe Partouche entered into a partnership with Betsson to make strides in the Belgian market. The partnership was formed after Betsson acquired Betfirst Group for €120.0m, granting Groupe Partouche access to Belgium’s icasino market.

The partnership initially focused on Belgium, with potential for expansion into other markets. The launch of operations in Belgium was contingent upon securing the necessary license, which Groupe Partouche already held for offline casinos in the country.

In its recent update, Groupe Partouche announced that Casino Middelkerke has obtained a license to offer online casino games. This license became effective this month (January).

Furthermore, Casino Middelkerke will be relocating to a new seafront site in March of this year, after operating temporarily in an outlying hotel since joining Groupe Partouche in July 2022.

Groupe Partouche continues to make strides in both its financial performance and expansion into new markets, showing resilience and adaptability within the industry.
