Gabriele Vulpitta, the Italian tennis player, defeated Jangjun Kim from South Korea to reach the quarter-finals of the 2023 Trofeo Bonfiglio. Despite the windy conditions at the Tennis Club Milano Alberto Bonacossa on Thursday, Vulpitta managed to win the match with a backhand down the line after an hour and 53 minutes, with a score of 7-6 6-2. The 17-year-old from Taranto had some issues with his serve, resulting in nine double faults, but was able to overcome them and even saved a set point. Vulpitta will face Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez, the number one seed in the tournament, in the quarter-finals on Friday.
However, it was not a good day for the two Italian female players competing in the round of 16 of the Junior Italian Open.
